You will always know what you are paying for and why.

Advice

Not just filing what happened. Planning what comes next.

Leadership

The people you will actually talk to.

Martha Puerta — Director of Operations, Avance Professional Services

Martha Puerta

Director of Operations

Martha is the person clients call when something feels impossible. As Director of Operations, she oversees every client relationship across all four offices and has spent more than fifteen years helping families in Fairfield County navigate systems that were never designed to be easy. She is often the first voice you hear at Avance and the reason so many clients come back year after year.

MBA · Sacred Heart University

Jovanny holds an MBA from Sacred Heart University and specializes in the returns most firms turn away — multi-state corporate filings, complex entity structures, and IRS representation. He advises business owners from formation through growth, and he is the advisor clients ask for when the stakes are high. He believes no one should have to face the IRS alone.

Our story

Fifteen years in Fairfield County

Avance started in a small office on East Main Street in Stamford, with one desk, one phone line, and a waiting room that filled up because people told their cousins. We were not trying to build a firm. We were trying to answer the questions nobody else would sit down and answer — what does this IRS letter mean, why was my refund held, how do I open a business here.

Fifteen years later there are four offices — two in Stamford, one in Norwalk, and a Milford appointment location — and the work has grown with the community it serves. We prepare corporate returns and we help a grandmother get her documents translated for the DMV, sometimes in the same hour. Our team speaks English, Spanish, and Portuguese because that is what our neighbors speak, not because it looks good on a website.

The part we are proudest of is the least glamorous: we are open all year. April ends and we are still here — for the amended return, the audit notice, the FAFSA deadline, the business loan the bank suddenly needs paperwork for. Being findable in August is not a marketing strategy. It is the reason people trust us in February.
